1)What is the difference between IF;IFA2 and IFA3?
2) What is the difference between (standalone) IF and the ARMA 2 and ARMA 3 (Steam)?
3) How does one tell which version of IF (standalone) you have?
IF stands for Iron Front, the full title of Iron Front is Iron Front: Liberation 1944
IFA2 stands for Iron Front in Arma 2 and is the conversion of the Iron Front: Liberation 1944 game
into a mod which allows you to play IF in Arma2.
IFA3 stands for Iron Front in Arma 3 and was developed by a very well known Modder named Kju,
he had permissions from the companies to use the
IF game assets, basically he was allowed to "port" Iron Front: Liberation 1944
game to Arma3 and expand it.
Standalone IF is the same as above, its a standalone game which you can see here on steam
store.steampowered.com/app/91330/Iron_Front_Digital_War_Edition/
Its a WW2 game that was to be a mod back in 2010 if i recall correctly, but instead was developed into a
full game and was/is called Iron front: Liberation 1944
The game uses a version of the Arma2OA engine which BI
(Developers of OFP, Arma1, Arma2, Arma3) licensed to Awar (devs of IF).
The Arma2 version of IF is called IFA2 basically Iron front in Arma2, and i will quote myself from another post:
As for Iron front in Arma3 also known as IFA3 on steam, IFA3 on steam has a new name which is
titled IFA3_AIO_Lite it stands for Iron front in Arma3 all in one & lite, the lite means its not a full
HD textured version of Iron Front game, that was allowed by the companies, until further in the future.
Now this version is a heavily updated version of the original IFA3 that was developed, you can say
its a new serious rebuilt mod of its former self, and its on steam, but basically it has many fixes, new maps,
more vehicles, weapons, tanks, ect,. developed and instead of just Kju working on it like he was in 2015, he
has a huge team that work on various aspects of it.
==============
Heres a run down of some history for you:
- Iron Front: Liberation 1944 a standalone game was released on May 2012.
- Iron Front in Arma2 aka IFA2 was in the process of being developed by Kju by the summer of 2012 i think he would know better.
- In start of 2013 i had a team here on the forums called IFR also known as Iron front Revival you can see our team page here
ironfront.forumchitchat.com/post/want-to-join-ifr-6254794?pid=1277281721
we were in the process of .... turning Iron front into a mod for Arma2 and then adding new stuff to it, but Kju contacted
me and basically said hes already doing it, and it would be better if him and my team joined forces and convert the Iron front
game to a mod legitimately as he had permissions from BI (Bohemia Interactive), Awar, and the publisher Deepsilver to convert
the game using a conversion process.
So we agreed, we had a tool we created which is called the conversion tool, and what it would do is you would need to have the Iron Front game
installed and then run the tool, the tool would scan the game's files, and make a copy of the files, but change the files extension to pbo.
So the Iron Front game uses a file extension of .IFA and Arma2 uses a file extension of .pbo so the tool would convert the .IFA to .PBO which allowed the Arma2 game to read the files of the game.
Why would we do this?
Because Iron front: Liberation 1944 was/is not moddable and Arma2 is, and using this conversion tool allowed us to convert the
Iron Front game into a mod for Arma2 😉
So to answer you other 2 questions which should make it more clearer:
Latest version will be located on the bottom right side corner of the game's menu.
The 1.05 is the version of the game (latest patch), the 1.60.0000 is the game engine version.
No they would not, and here are the reasons why:
1. Iron Front: Liberation 1944 the standalone game is not moddable.
2. Iron front the game uses a file extension of .IFA, All Arma games use a file extension of .pbo so neither
would Arma2 or Arma3 would be able to read each other's files.
3. The IFA3 mod for Arma3 is basically Iron Front the game in Arma3, so its not necessary to go backwards,
and their would be conflicts, or the game would crash and simple wouldn't work.
4. If you wanted to play Iron front in Arma2 then we have a tutorial you can use and download the conversion tool,
with this you will have IFA2 see here ----> LINK
5. If you want to play Iron front in Arma3 then you need to own Arma3 and you can just subscribe
to the mod IFA3_AIO_Lite here ----> LINK
================
I hope that clears up your confusion, if you have anymore questions, concerns or need help with
anything for IF,IFA2, or IFA3 then dont hesitate to ask.

So what is it that will allow me to play Iron front as a mod in Arma2CO or Arma3?
Kju the creator of these projects has setup a process called the conversion.
The Conversion is where you are "converting" Iron front's IFA files to a pbo file or extension format, the pbo format can be read by Arma2Co and Arma3.
Basically when you convert your Iron front it will create a folder titled @if, yes it will be in the form of a mod which will allow you to play Iron Front in both Arma2CO and Arma3, the Arma3 version of the conversion is a bit more complex then the Arma2CO version.
So in order to convert my Iron front game to a mod for Arma2CO or Arma3 what do I do? what is used?
One of IFR team members (DeadTomGC) created a simple yet amazing tool that "converts" once run your Iron front into an @if folder.
The tool locates your Iron front directory, and your Arma2 directory and then goes through the process, and converts your files for Iron front from IFA to pbo, placing a @if folder in your Arma2 directory.
I cannot explain how it does this, but your vanilla Iron front game is not altered or changed in anyway, just a copy of the files are created
and reformatted into a pbo so that it can be read and run in Arma2CO.
Is this legal? Do you have permissions from Deepsilver to do this?
Yes we do. Kju has been working with DeepSilver, X1 Sofware, BIS (Bohemia Interactive), and Awar to allow the conversion process
to be made public to the Iron front community. This project has the agreement of all involved parties:
AWAR (developers of Iron Front)
X1Software (managing director)
Bohemia Interactive (engine licensor)
DeepSilver (publisher)
What are the requirements to convert my Iron front to Arma2Co or Arma3?
1. You must own a legitimate copy of Iron front Liberation 1944.
2. For the arma2Co version, you must own Arma2 plus OA.
3. For the Arma3 version, you must own Iron front, and Arma3. - (Not anymore, now you just download the IFA3_AIO_Lite mod).
The Conversion tool that does the conversion process is setup to check if you own Iron front and Arma2CO, and for
the Arma3 version if you have Arma3.
